This year the BroadwayWorld Regional Awards were bigger and better than ever, including over 100 cities across America, Canada, Central and South America, Europe, and Asia!
Because “Respect” is much more than a musical, it’s the best and most hilarious educational lesson on women’s history you’ll ever take, and I suggest every woman go see it while they can.
Regardless of your gender, if you enjoy music that tells a story and spans 100 years, then you’re gonna love RESPECT: A MUSICAL CELEBRATION OF WOMEN now through March 3 at the Herberger Theater Center.
Producers Phillip Rodger Roy and Dana Matthow, have teamed up with writer Dorothy Marcic and Director Bud Martin to take us on a ride through a glorious soundtrack about women over the last 100 years!
Respect is wonderfully directed by Rick Criswell and Karla Hartley, who seem to have aimed at, and reached theatrical perfection; and the three-man combo of Michael Sebastian, keyboards, Joe Grady, bass, and Burt Rushing, drums, couldn’t be better.
Respect is an upbeat frolic through musical history.
Fun costumes by Ivy Thaide, snazzy choreography by Lee Martino, and solid direction by Peter Loewy, along with spot-on music direction by Jim Vukovich, round out this upbeat, entertaining show.
Researched and written by Vanderbilt Professor and noted popular music authority, Dorothy Marcic, with relatable humor and a lot of spunk, we had a good ole’ time!
